Summer Restrictions 2022

Beaches and Harbors will not approve filming or parking on weekends at County owned/operated beaches nor at property located in the City of Marina del Rey, during the summer season beginning Saturday, May 28th through Sunday, September 11th.  This also includes Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day weekends. 

Nicholas Canyon is usually less crowded than most Malibu beaches. It has almost a mile of beach frontage and 23 acres of property. Surfers refer to it as “Point Zero” since it is one of the few perfect point breaks left in Los Angeles County. A City of Malibu permit is required in addition to the FilmLA permit
Still photography or small film shoots with handheld equipment will be allowed. Groups no larger than 10.
All equipment must be walked down to the beach
No trucks larger than 40 feet will be allowed in the parking lot
No vehicles or other equipment on turf, unless otherwise approved by DBH.
